Frequently Asked Waxing Questions
How long does my hair have
to be?
to be?
To achieve the best results, the hair should be a minimum of 1/4" in length. It is best to stop shaving a minimum of two weeks prior to waxing service. The longer you wait, the better. The "grow out" stage is often the most difficult step, but the longer the hair is, the cleaner the waxing will turn out. To achieve the smoothest result let your hair grow out for 4 weeks after shaving or getting a wax before your next waxing service.
How do I prepare for my
waxing service?
waxing service?
Taking Advil or Ibuprofen 30 minutes prior to your waxing service will help reduce pain and inflammation. Please consult with your doctor prior to taking any new medications. Limit your caffeine intake the day of your waxing service. Caffeine stimulates the nervous system and increases sensitivity. For our female clientele, if on your cycle, we can still wax you, we ask that you please wear a tampon, you may have heightened sensitivity during the week prior to or during menstruation.
Pregnancy also increases sensitivity.
Pregnancy also increases sensitivity.
Does it hurt?
It hurts more the first time than any other time because you are removing 100% of the hair, you don't know what to expect and your nerves are on edge. By far the worst part for most people is the anticipation, not the actual removal. Our experienced estheticians are there to ensure your treatment is as swift and painless as possible. Follow our tips for preparing for your waxing service and you will be just fine! If you are consistent with your waxing appointments, about every 4-6 weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows, the easier it will get!
If it didn't get any easier no one would get waxed ;-)

Can medication affect
waxing?
waxing?
Yes! You cannot be waxed if you are taking any antibiotics, Accutane, Differin, or Retin A. Also any medications that list "sun sensitivity" on the list of contraindications will preclude you from being waxed. You should also avoid being waxed while using glycolic acid, any facial peels, or harsh exfoliants. All these products thin out and weaken your skin making you more sensitive and likely to burn or peel. You should wait 2-6 weeks depending on how long you have been on the medication before you wax, as we want to make sure the medication is out of your system so you have a pleasant waxing experience. If you are not sure of how you may react from any other prescriptions you are taking, please contact the subscribing physician beforehand so they can help you determine if you are able to get waxed. You must be off of Accutane for 12 months before receiving a waxing service.
Will my hair grow back
thicker, darker or heavier?
thicker, darker or heavier?
No, it will not. Waxing does not change the color of your hair. Waxing removes the hair by the root, often weakening the root in process. Therefore, if anything, waxing will make the hair finer and sparser with repeated regular waxing. The results are worth it!
How often should I have
waxing done?
waxing done?
We recommend anywhere from 4-6 weeks or when the hair is between a 1/4 and 1/2 inch long. WE RECOMMEND NOT SHAVING BETWEEN WAXING SERVICES.
Do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins welcomed but appointments preferred. We can not guarantee that we will have availability if you do not make an appointment in advance. See cancelation policy under "Services".
