For waxing, hair needs to be about a quarter inch long, roughly two to three weeks of growth. Shaving in between resets the clock, so leave it alone.
Shower before you come. Skip heavy lotion or oil that day, and go easy on exfoliating for a day or two beforehand.
We'll email your intake form 2 days before your appointment. Please complete it in advance for a smooth, relaxing check-in. If you're unable to, simply arrive 15 minutes early to fill it out before your service.
Before anything is touched, she tells you what she is about to do, in what order, and how long it takes. Ask anything. There is no question she has not already been asked this week.
The room is reset before you walk in. Every wax stick is used once and thrown away, every time, with no double dipping.
We keep your waxing experience quick, comfortable, and efficient. Need a moment? Just let us know! Your comfort is always our priority.
For the first day, skip heat and friction. No sauna, no hot tub, no workout, no tight clothing, no direct sun. Keep the area clean and leave it alone.
Start gentle exfoliation a few days later to keep hair from growing back trapped. Your provider will tell you exactly when and hand you what to use. The full list is on our waxing aftercare page.
Four to six weeks keeps waxing on schedule and makes each visit easier than the last. Book at the front desk and you keep the same provider and the same time slot.
If you are coming monthly anyway, a membership costs less than paying visit by visit.
Straight answers
To achieve the best results, the hair should be a minimum of a quarter inch. Stop shaving at least two weeks before a waxing service, and the longer you wait the better. The grow out stage is the hardest part, but the longer the hair, the cleaner the wax.
Taking Advil or ibuprofen 30 minutes before helps reduce pain and inflammation. Check with your doctor before taking anything new. Limit caffeine that day, because it stimulates the nervous system and increases sensitivity. If you are on your cycle we can still wax you, we just ask that you wear a tampon. Pregnancy also increases sensitivity.
It hurts more the first time than any other time, because you are removing all of the hair, you do not know what to expect and your nerves are on edge. For most people the worst part is the anticipation, not the removal. Come every four to six weeks and it gets easier every time.
Yes. You cannot be waxed while taking antibiotics, Accutane, Differin or Retin-A, or any medication that lists sun sensitivity. Avoid waxing while using glycolic acid, facial peels or harsh exfoliants, because they thin the skin. Depending how long you have been on it, wait two to six weeks. Accutane is twelve months.
No. Waxing does not change the colour of your hair. It removes hair by the root and weakens that root over time, so with regular waxing the hair comes back finer and sparser.
Every four to six weeks, or when the hair is between a quarter and half an inch. Do not shave in between.
Walk-ins are welcome when we can fit them in. Appointments are preferred. The cancellation policy is on the policies page.
